Now in its 27th year, the prestigious Junior European Open in association with Sky Sports once again heads to Knaresborough Golf Club this weekend for one of its regional qualifiers. Finalists will compete at the Alcaidesa Links resort in Cadiz, in November, a venue that saw our very own Nathan Seal take 11th place overall back in 2015.

And what an illustrious back catalogue of participants the tournament he joined. In 1993, Luke Donald finished 3rd in the Finals at Wentworth in 1993, as did  Justin Rose a year later. Multiple Tour winner and Sky Sports presenter Nick Dougherty was among the Finalists, also finishing third in 1995 at Valderrama. That same year, the Spanish junior team led by 15 year old Sergio Garcia took on the UK finalists in a Ryder Cup style match.

The 2018 Ladies British Open Champion Georgia Hall was a finalists in 2010. More recently, the 2008 and 2009 Junior European Open Girls’ champion Bronte Law represented GB & I in the 2012, 2014 & 2016 Curtis Cups.

So it's a competition with pedigree and we're looking forward to the "new look" Knaresborough course providing a challenge to more than match the occasion.
