Dress Code

The policy of Knaresborough Golf Club is to set a smart yet congenial atmosphere alongside the traditions and heritage of our great game. Please assist us by ensuring that you and your guests adhere to this policy when visiting the Club.

It is expected that all members, guests and visitors should be appropriately and smartly attired at all times.

On the Golf Course
Smart golfing clothing, which may include tailored shorts. Shirts must be tucked in at all times, trouser bottoms may not be tucked into socks and when caps are worn the peak must to the front.

Gentlemen when playing in shorts, may wear either predominantly white ankle length sports socks or single colour long socks.

Proper golfing footwear is to be worn.

In the Clubhouse
The minimum standard is smart casual clean clothing at all times - no golf shoes, spiked or otherwise, hats, wet or soiled clothing or golfing rainwear.

Unacceptable Dress
The following forms of dress are deemed to be unacceptable anywhere on the course or premises:

  • Stockinged or bare feet.
  • Sandals or shoes without socks.
  • Football/rugby shirts and shorts, beach shorts, training shoes & tracksuits.
  • Tee shirts, sleeveless or collarless shirts unless specifically designed for golf.
  • Denim garments and ‘jean' style trousers with riveted pockets.

The General Manager and his staff are required to determine the appropriateness of dress both on and off the golf course and in such cases their decision is final.

Members are reminded that they are responsible for the conduct and behaviour, which includes dress, of their guests. Failure to observe either the spirit or the letter of these rules may result in a member or Visitor being asked to leave the Club premises.

Mobile phones are not permitted on the golf course or first floor of the clubhouse.
