Another Night Golf to RememberFebruary 23, 2018
It's not often that a golfer can claim to be distracted by an owl hooting on his backswing. A sign of the hilarity to come as we stood on the first tee.
"I'm not too cold" said one participant. That would change as the temperature plummeted.
So yet again KGC has enjoyed the Night Golf experience, and what a good night it was, as a half moon provided just enough illumination to avoid walking into ditches (for most folk... name supplied on request).
120 "light sticks" guided shadowy figures around 7 holes, glowing golf balls in the night sky like bright green shooting stars.
The event was won by Gavin Reid and Andy Harrison, but the real winners were the chosen charities, with a total of over £750 being split between Men's Captain Nick Woods' Myeloma UK and Harrogate Railway under 16s football club. Raffle prizes were kindly donated by KGC members and associates of the football fraternity. Prize winners are posted in the Clubhouse bar area, but will be contacted directly where possible.
So it's a thank you to all who attended... we had a full card! And thank you to sponsor company Clearview98. Aside from the time required this is not an inexpensive event to support, with golf balls and glow sticks not coming cheap, printing raffle tickets, designing posters, chasing raffle prizes, selling raffle tickets, etc. And thank you to Phil Curry for running the desk for 6 hours straight! And thank you to Ivor for doing your bit by organising scorecards and managing the entry! And thank you to our generous raffle prize donors! And thank you to all in the Club who put their hand in their pocket to buy tickets and/or enter the competition! And thank you to Emily for staying so late to ensure everyone got fed! And Jason for running the bar 'til closing!
Have I missed anyone?
I have! Thank you to our fantastic greens staff for 'litter picking' all those defunct glow sticks the next morning.
